Hootorama

Privacy

Last updated November 8, 2026.

Hootorama is a family trivia, drawing and word game for iPhone and iPad. We built it to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts and we do not run our own servers.

What stays on your device

We never receive any of this. Deleting the app deletes it.

Family games

When you play a family game, your device talks directly to the other devices in the room over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth using Apple's local networking. Only the name and color you chose, your answers, guesses and drawings, and the scores are shared, and only with the players in that game. Nothing goes through the internet or to us.

Ads

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. We set every ad request as directed to children, so Google does not show personalized ads, does not use your activity for ad targeting, and limits ads to family-friendly content. Hootorama does not ask to track you and does not use the advertising identifier.

To show an ad, Google's software may receive basic technical information such as your device type, operating system, an approximate location based on IP address, and how the ad performed. Google uses this to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and prevent fraud. Google's practices are described at policies.google.com.

Purchases

Remove Ads is bought through Apple. Apple handles payment, and we never see your name, Apple ID or card. If you use Apple Family Sharing, everyone in your family group gets the ad-free version too.

Children

Hootorama is made for families, including kids. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only information a player types in is a first name for family games, and it stays on the devices in the room.
